Converting images to multi-page PDF documents

PDF (Portable Document Format) is the universal standard for sharing documents that look the same on every device and printer. Converting images to PDF is useful when you need to combine multiple photos into a single document, prepare images for printing with specific page sizes, or create portfolios and presentations in a format that every computer can open.

Each image becomes one page in the resulting PDF. The tool centers and scales each image to fit within the chosen page size while maintaining aspect ratio. This means landscape photos on portrait pages will have white space above and below, and portrait photos on landscape pages will have space on the sides — the image is never distorted.

Page size options include A4 (210x297mm, the international standard), US Letter (8.5x11 inches, common in North America), and fit-to-image (the page matches the image dimensions exactly). Fit-to-image is ideal when you want no white space and do not need standard paper sizes.

The PDF is generated entirely in your browser using a minimal PDF encoder. No images are uploaded to any server. The encoder embeds each image as a JPEG stream within the PDF at your chosen quality level. Lower quality produces smaller PDF files; higher quality preserves more detail for printing. The resulting PDF is compatible with every PDF reader including Adobe Acrobat, Preview, Chrome, and mobile viewers.

Technical details

PDF encoder

A minimal client-side PDF generator that creates valid PDF 1.4 documents. Images are embedded as JPEG streams with configurable compression quality.

Page sizes

A4 (595x842 points), US Letter (612x792 points), and fit-to-image (page dimensions match the image at 72 DPI). Custom sizes are not currently supported.

Image placement

Each image is centered on its page and scaled to fit within the printable area while maintaining aspect ratio. No cropping occurs — white space fills remaining areas.

JPEG quality

Controls the compression of images embedded in the PDF. Quality 85-95 is suitable for viewing on screen. Quality 95-100 is recommended for print output.
